What are the motives that drive a person to care for the victims of war? What can a health care worker who sees the effects on civilians of "humanitarian wars" every day tell us about it? Starting with EMERGENCY's direct experience in the contexts of war and poverty in which it has been working for nearly 30 years, an opportunity to reflect on the causes and effects of choosing war, which seems inevitable to those who have never done anything to avoid it, to those who have never chosen to courageously take the path of protecting human rights.

2020 was the year that created a watershed between the before and after for the work of third sector organizations as well. Fundraising has transformed, consolidated areas and explored new opportunities. The same thing happened in programs. All of this has been possible because of the drive for innovation, the attitude of testing and the acceptance of error. We will talk about how Save The Children responded to change by innovating and testing as much as possible.

Multiple sclerosis is a neurodegenerative disease, affecting about 140,000 people in Italy and nearly 3 million worldwide. Its symptoms, which are very different from each other, are often not visible. This makes it a difficult disease to live with. On the occasion of World MS Day, AISM has created a campaign to raise awareness of the invisible symptoms of this disease by using new technologies to make the symptoms of people with MS visible.

Stream4AISM is the first gaming fundraising project in Italy conceived and realised in order to raise funds to finance AISM's innovative scientific research projects on multiple sclerosis.  Thanks to the support of more than 100 streamers, the project managed to finance the realisation of the DIGICOG-MS® project; an app for the self-assessment and monitoring of cognitive functioning. The aim of Stream4AISM is therefore to combine live streaming and charity with the aim of informing and raising awareness on an extremely important issue such as scientific research.

Digital transformation is a compulsory step even for organizations working in the no profit sector. How to approach the transition and stay relevant in the future? How to involve people in understanding and embracing a general need for renovation and change? At Doctors without borders (Medici Senza Frontiere Italia), we’ve put staff members and their well-being at the center of our transformative process, by first envisioning a new working environment, the Collaboration Maximizer, tailored around individuals, teams and organization’s needs. That was just the beginning of a two-years effort of co-designing new processes, rituals and practices - to ultimately allow everyone to work more effectively together, as well as embed creativity and flexibility in everything we do. With low investments and relatively short times, the transition has been adopted throughout the entire organization, giving MSF the readiness and confidence to bring innovation to the next level, and start rethinking their entire offering and service model.

Respect for the environment, social welfare and business management processes: these are the focuses on which many realities want to concentrate in order to build for the future. CESVI, following Covid-19 has also been able to develop know-how on issues that go beyond "just philanthropy." Thanks to recovery funds, with the "Renaissance Bergamo" project it helped small and medium-sized enterprises in restarting and with "Scena Unita" it supported the music and entertainment sector. Many corporations today are paying attention to the issues underlying the acronym ESG, but what does this mean in a practical sense? What does it entail? What impacts can it have for a company, and how can a nonprofit be a support for scaling ratings and thus demonstrating its effective social responsibility in the eyes of partners, collaborators, and investors?
