Generative AI between challenges and opportunities: the context of combating disinformation in Europe

Today, the latest developments in Artificial Intelligence, such as Generative AI, promise great opportunities but also present new challenges and risks. The presentation will highlight the role of Generative AI in combating disinformation, with special emphasis on the goals and achievements of the European TITAN project. The results achieved, difficulties encountered, and lessons learned will be highlighted, contextualizing the project within the initiatives Europe is promoting to manage the risks arising from the surprising new advances in Generative AI. The use of this technology in a positive and beneficial way for Media Literacy and citizen education through the development of their critical thinking will also be discussed.
