The Digitalization of Society: Trends and Challenges
In the first two decades of the 21st Century the process of digitization of all human activities has accelerated. Two major technological breakthroughs spearhead the changes: 5G network connectivity (with 6G already in the experimental stage) and the coming of age of Artificial Intelligence that allows for increasingly autonomous machines with decision making capacity supported by distributed Big Data. Social practices, organizations and institutions are in flux. We do not know which will be the precise impacts of these developments, but we know the current trends and the issues they raise. The lecture will examine these trends and elaborate on the challenges they present in the organization of work, in communication, in political disinformation, in the autonomy of social movements, in education, and in warfare. The results of multidimensional and technological change are not predetermined. They will ultimately depend on policies and strategies that this lecture will discuss.

Tech Transfer: the role of supercomputing in innovation
The transfer of expertise from the world of academic research to the world of industrial research is a fundamental component of our society's progress. In recent years, this relationship has grown in parallel with the spread of technology in all areas of our lives, paving the way for new and increasingly effective forms of collaboration and increasingly involving small and medium-sized enterprises as well. Cineca supports this path toward digitization and today, with the European Leonardo supercomputer, the fourth most powerful in the world, recently installed at the Tecnopolo in Bologna, reinforces its commitment to the transfer of enabling skills toward society. We talk about this with Cineca President Francesco Ubertini.

Being a Content Creator in 2023
Now more than ever, being a content creator can be a real job. Two factors have made this change possible: the opportunities offered by the many platforms in circulation and the unprecedented number of users present on social media. At the same time, technological barriers have been broken down, allowing anyone to be a content creator. In this talk, I would like to provide an overview of the current content creation landscape, discuss the important mindset shift necessary to make this your livelihood, and explore the monetization opportunities that creators often overlook.

From Boredom to Hype (and Vice Versa): Two Technological Cycles Compared: the Metaverse and Artificial Intelligence
The talk will discuss the cycle of hype and how its rules are influencing innovation and technological investments. Ever since Apple introduced the iPhone, the technology industry has been chasing the next 'iPhone moment,' which Mark Zuckerberg identified in the construction of the metaverse, a concept to which he dedicated his group's rebranding. However, things didn't go as Zuck hoped, despite the Web3 fever that was blowing winds - and billions - in favor of the metaverse. It was ChatGPT, at the end of 2022, who reminded us how those moments of sudden change occur. But how similar are these two cycles?

The Limits of Engagement in Branding Activities
"We are not what we say, we are the credit we receive," wrote José Saramago. The metrics of engagement must give way to trust and credibility as a source of information that readers will attribute to us. It makes no sense to have a large audience obtained through populist or popular content if this following does not perceive us as honest, reliable, and solid from a professional point of view. Credibility is not measured in likes but through the number of people who turn to us for solutions to their problems.

How to Use NFTs, Metaverse, and Tokens to Promote Your Business
The video recording of this speech is not available.
Metaverses are virtual worlds used to interact with your audience and generate visibility for your product. In the metaverse, we can sell or give away Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) linked to the product, organize reward events, and exchange goods and services for payments. But what are the legal limits of these activities? Can I sell NFTs to third parties? What are the rules on intellectual property? Can I exchange my goods for metaverse payment tokens without the risk of violating anti-money laundering regulations? Lars' presentation will provide answers to these questions.

Content Repurposing: How to Seamlessly Integrate Your Website and YouTube
Many creators invest a significant amount of their time and resources in creating high-quality video content for YouTube or other social media platforms. As a result, the importance of having a website has diminished, as it is considered a less effective means of communication, being based on written words. While this is true to some extent, a website also has functions that cannot be replaced by video, especially when it comes to conversions of any kind. That's why it's important to integrate YouTube and your website. In this case study, we will explain how to do it efficiently.

Cash is the bicycle of payments, not the horse cart
Pronouncing the death of physical cash has been a futurist cliché for decades, but these predictions, are often based on flawed mental models of the cash system and how it relates to digital money. In,this talk Brett Scott shows why cash is not an outdated 'horse cart of payments', and why it's far, better thought of as the 'bicycle of payments'. The cash system is certainly under attack, but in a future of climate change, geopolitical insecurity, cyber-attacks and digital burnout it stands to make a strong comeback.

The Unspoken Words (and the Ones We Shouldn't Be Ashamed of)
There are journalistic expressions that have entered the jargon, and others that we do not pronounce because they seem offensive, when in fact they are the only ones that should be spoken. It is obviously incorrect to write negr, we all know that. But it is also incorrect to write zingar, no more no less. Autism is not a disease, autistico is not an insult, Down is capitalized because the Down syndrome is named after the doctor who first attempted a classification, and it is not the translation of the English word "down". No one is "down" in Down syndrome. It is preferable to use the term "deaf" instead of "non-hearing", it is wrong to say "differently abled", and it is better to say "person with disabilities". Alternatively - in a title - it is acceptable to write "disabled". Because "disabled" is not an insult, it is instead offensive not to know the right words to relate to others.

But these tools can also be used to enhance the learning process, by creating personalized tutors which explain the material at any level and in any style. Teachers can also benefit from using the tools to generate lesson plans, presentations and interactive games, as well as evaluate tests and assignments based on custom criteria. A lead is as soon as he or she arrives, a contact has signed up for a newsletter, or after a purchase-all of these are key moments for triggering on-boarding flows, also known as Welcome Flows, through email marketing. We will look at how best to manage them and conclude with a framework you can apply immediately on your email marketing strategies for ecommerce and lead generation.

Mindset and conceptual models: the UX to support change
The video recording of this speech is not available.
What impacts can a designer's work generate? One of the main activities is to change users' established patterns with simpler, more intuitable ones. People desire change but are frightened by it, so a compromise must always be defined that facilitates them without upsetting the current pattern. In this talk we want to explore the topics of conceptual model and design pattern, their impacts on UX, and how they are difficult to replace.

Synthetic data for responsible innovation
We often hear about responsible innovation, but what does that actually mean in practice? On a broad level, it means three things when you innovate: you want to respect the rule of law, do no harm, and you want it to do good. When we talk about innovating with powerful AI technologies, these concepts are often related to data privacy, and protection, ethics and bias, as well as the digital divide in making use of these technologies. We all know that economies and societies can benefits massively from AI when used responsibly. However, balancing the act of working responsibly while harnessing tech requires new ways of thinking and working. One of such emerging paradigm shifts is driven by Synthetic Data. In this talk Shalini will introduce how synthetic data is already changing the way companies are thinking about responsible innovation with a focus on privacy preservation, data quality and ethics, eliminating data scarcity and cutting costs in utilizing AI.

AI for Work
Generative AI is The Future of Work
The power of data and AI should not only be reserved for the experts but should be accessible to everyone. AI will finally consumerize access to business information. Imagine combining ChatGPT and Apple Siri to create a user-friendly experience tailored to structured business data with powerful enterprise features to make business users speak with their data. Today, I’d like to show you an exclusive demo of a Generative Business Intelligence (BI) platform that makes data accessible through conversations or written chat. Business users can now converse with their data in natural language using voice and written commands. In addition, the AI continuously learns how users consume information and surfaces proactive & contextual recommendations similar to what Spotify and Netflix do with songs and movies. Generative BI becomes a virtual brain of the company’s knowledge that helps teams with data-driven decision-making, similar to asking a colleague for advice.

The social impact of sport and e-sports, research for our future
The video recording of this intervention is not available. Social impact is an indicator that is becoming increasingly important. Sport has clear benefits for both the National Health System as well as the justice sector; various attempts, more or less scientific, have been made to measure this impact. The only thing you can do is focus on the user experience you offer on your site. But do you know what is happening on your site today? Why does such a small percentage convert (buy, sign up)? The website is primarily an important branding tool. The website is also a tool that locates a solution to a problem. In addition, for any company, it tends to the hub of all marketing activities: the nodal point between social, communication, research and sales as well as brand and image. Let us find out how the website is a fundamental building block of a web marketing strategy.

Public incentives to boost SMEs’ development and innovation: how to drive through tenders and PNRR funds
A widespread sentiment is that there is only one way to finance a rapidly growing company: equity from professional investors. But even fully funded companies like Tesla, Apple and Amazon have resorted (also) to public finance. These companies have used public aids measures to create a leverage effect over private capital, boosting their R&D investments. But how to (quickly) find out if a tender is right for a company's needs? How to avoid the risk of defocalisation?

The New Era of Internet Platformization
In the last 20 years, the web has been governed by platforms: data and attention marketplaces that have profoundly transformed internet business models, atomized the cultural production chain, and altered the dynamics that inhabit digital communities. However, two decades after the beginning of this "platformization" process, something seems to be on the verge of breaking: the arrival of new competitors, regulatory pressures from governments, and the rise of disruptive technological forces such as generative AI are challenging the market balance and the incentives on which this system has relied for two decades. What will happen next, and - above all - what will it mean for us?

Walking on the crest line: from Web3 to AI and back
The video recording of this speech is not available.
From the crest line, the sight is exceptional, with splendid views of what is all around and promising follow up options. We can also perceive the massive amount of actors trying to climb and attain this 360 perspective. However, the slopes are steep and slippery, with many ways up turning out dead-end tracks. We advise on market prospects exploring Web3 expectations, hopefully enriched with most obvious AI support. However, upon our periodic analysis of what may work, be useful and efficient, and possibly lead to commercial success, we also take into account the difficulties, the time gap to full technological maturity, the ethical and legal hurdles and the security issues, already documented or to be anticipated. We will present three such developments.

Sustainability is a marathon, not a sprint!
There is too little discussion of sustainable marketing... of marketing that is linked to the dissemination of an ESG-conscious culture and education. Of a marketing that supports companies, banks and insurance companies to undertake a sustainable transition and that follows international regulations and frameworks. A marketing that leads to change not only in culture but also in private and professional life as well as in the ecosystem of which we are a part.

What Newspapers Will We Read in Twenty Years? Assuming We'll Still Read Them
Newspapers need readers, no longer the other way around. Everything has changed since the digital world entered the world of information, catching publishers, newsrooms, and especially journalists unprepared. It has been at least ten years since the strong wind started blowing in Italy too, but on too many fronts, the same mistakes continue to be made, confusing the means with the end and still not being able to identify the new profile of readers from now until the near future. Is it a matter of age, demographics? Yes, and much more.

Roots: from Perugia to create Business throughout Italy
ParkingMyCar Italia was established in 2018 as a platform for booking parking at ports and airports, with national coverage thanks to numerous partnerships with private parking lots, as well as official airport parking lots. In 2021, thanks to the internal development of our ParkingMyCar app, we extended our services to major Italian cities. Our approach to mobility and parking is global, and our goal is to offer a single solution to the user, regardless of his or her destination, so that he or she can monitor, book, pay, and stay through a single channel, ParkingMyCar. Our mission is to replicate the ParkingMyCar ecosystem in every urban context in which we operate, building an integrated and comprehensive system for drivers, citizens and tourists, bringing added value in terms of users and quality of service. By virtue of our global positioning and digital vocation, we represent a modern player capable of enhancing the digitization of the parking process, supporting managers and channeling users to the facilities we collaborate with, offering integration and connection between cities, ports and airports. ParkingMyCar is in effect a modern scale-up that identifies critical issues in the mobility world and studies digital and sustainable solutions to positively impact the community. We analyze, develop, test, launch new services, open new markets and try to scale up as fast as possible. That's what we've done for ports and airports, that's what we're doing for city parking reservations and digital payment on blue lines, that's what we're doing to provide management technology tools to facilitate the management of the parking process, that's what we're doing for the RV segment and to work on the concept of shared parking and to integrate parking and electric charging. These activities will be launched as early as 2023, while an internationalization strategy has already been planned in Spain and Germany, where from 2024 we will offer our services starting with the booking of long-stay parking
